We provide free training and services to those who are blind or visually impaired. Application and eye report required. Visually impaired: 20/70 or worse in best eye with correction. Legally blind: 20/200 or worse in best eye with correction or visually field restriction of 20 degrees or less. Services include: Independent Living, Orientation and Mobility, Assistive Technology, Microsoft Office, and Adaptive Equipment Grant Program.

Special Education - The children of East Texas come in all sizes, shapes, colors, and abilities. They do not all learn the same way, but they do ALL learn. Do you know of an infant, child or teenager who has trouble: hearing, seeing, talking, walking, using their hands, or relating to adults or other children? Public school programs can serve these children from ages 3 to 21. Children with severe hearing or vision impairment may be eligible to receive services from birth. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Family and Community Health (FCH) unit provides educational programs to improve the health and wellness of individuals, families, and communities in Texas. The Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) advocates for the inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities and funds grant projects in areas such as education, employment, and health. The initiative offers education, training, technical assistance, and connections with self-advocates and families in the community. It also shares resources and best practices on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in the community. TCDD's mission is to create change through advocacy, capacity building, and systems change to improve support for people with disabilities.
