City of Tyler Neighborhood Services Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV)- The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides housing assistance for eligible low income families allowing them to live in decent, safe and sanitary housing. In order to participate in the HCV Program you will have to submit an application to be placed on a waiting list. Our waiting list is currently closed. Eligibility criteria must be within the income guidelines. Must pass a background check. Must have original copies of a valid state-issued identification card/Driver's Licence, Birth Certificate and Social Security Card.

Hiway 80 Rescue Mission, Gateway to Hope is a day resource center for the homeless in Tyler, TX. Where guests can access showers, laundry, haircuts, phone, mail and computers for those in need. At different times we have classes and tutors who help with resume writing, job searches, and other basic computer help as needed (call for hours). This an intake location to access Hiway 80 Rescue Mission Men's Shelter, Women & Family Shelter and the New Creations Discipleship Recovery Program. We also offer a medical clinic for the homeless.

This program is for homeowners within the city of Rusk and outlying areas within the boundaries of Rusk ISD

Habitat for Humanity of Smith County

Habitat provides critical repairs for current homeowners who qualify for this program. Veterans, senior citizens and disabled are among those served upon meeting guidelines for the program. The residence must be owned (not rented) and cannot be a mobile home due to program restrictions. Application can be made at 822 W. Front Street, Tyler.

PATH helps with rent for families and individuals that have been issued an eviction notice. As funding allows, we can help with up to one month of rent every 2 years; we cannot pay back rent. You must have had an unexpected situation occur that caused you to not be able to pay your rent but confidence that you can pay it on your own next month. This service available online at www.pathhelps.org by the 5th of the month. Please call 903-597-7284 as soon as you receive an eviction notice. Assistance is limited and there is always more need than we have the ability to help. You have to bring your eviction notice, income documentation, and ID.

This program is provided through federal funding to assist clients, who may qualify, in paying for long-term and short-term rental/mortgage, and utility assistance. Qualifications: 1. Must have an HIV Positive status 2. Recent financial emergency (Lost job, laid off, hours cut, recent discharge from hospital etc.) 3. NOT receiving housing assistance from another agency

Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH)-The City of Tyler has a partnership with Veteran Affairs (VA) to provide housing to homeless veterans. The veteran will contact John Smith at the VA to be screened. If the veteran is eligible for the VASH program they will be referred to a VASH caseworker at the VA. When a voucher becomes available the veteran will be referred to Neighborhood Services. Eligibility Criteria Must be within the income guidelines. Must pass a background check. Must have original copies of a valid state-issued identification card/Driver's Licence, Birth Certificate, DD 214 and Social Security Card.
